Cantlay, Morikawa and Phoenix Open cut in overtime against Schaeffler

Patrick Cantlay (USA), who played overtime with Scotty Scheffler (USA) last year, packed up early this year.

Cantlay made 4 birdies and bogey in the 2nd round of the PGA Tour WM Phoenix Open (total prize money of 2 million dollars) held at TPC Scottsdale (par 71) in Scottsdale, Arizona on the 12th (Korean time). He recorded 1-under 70 with 3 strokes.

With an interim total of 1 over par 143, Cantlay could not get past the cut because of one stroke. He aimed to win the event last year, but this year he leaves the event in two days. He expressed regret on social media, saying, “I pushed well this morning, but it wasn’t enough.”

Cantlay played overtime with Schaeffler, who was co-leader in the final round last year. Schaeffler’s birdie putt fell at the end of the third round, and Cantlay left a shorter birdie putt than Schaeffler’s, but had to be satisfied with the runner-up as the ball went past the hole.

For Cantlay, it was his fourth appearance this season. In October of last year, he competed for the championship with Kim Joo-hyung (21) at the Shriners Children’s Open, but finished runner-up by three strokes.

After that, he participated in the Sentry Tournament of Champions and American Express in January and tied for 16th and 26th, respectively. After a three-week break, he tried to win the Phoenix Open, but was eliminated from the cut and bowed his head. 먹튀검증

Among the ‘big names’ who missed the cut along with Cantlay was Colin Morikawa (USA). In the second round, Morikawa made 2 birdies and 3 bogeys to hit a 1-over-par 72, and with an average total of 3-over par 145, she could not go beyond the cut.

Following this, major European players such as Shane Lowry (Ireland), Francisco Molinari (Italy), and Tommy Fleetwood (England) also packed up early.

The Phoenix Open could not finish the second round due to the delay in the sunset the day before. Round 2 is over and Round 3 is underway.
