KIA Tigers’ Yang Hyun-jong will try to make up for the most runs lost.
Manager Kim Jong-kook announced Yang Hyun-jong as the starting pitcher for the Gwangju game against the SSG Landers on Sunday.
Yang gave up the most runs in his 17-year career in a resignation game against the Lotte Giants on Feb. 2. He gave up seven runs on six hits and two walks in the first inning. He gave up a solo home run to Lee Hak-joo.
In the second inning, he gave up three hits, including a Jung-hoon double, and gave up two more runs. It was the most runs he had given up since joining the team in 2007. He did not return to the mound until the third inning. The Lotte batters were aggressive from the first pitch.
His ERA jumped from 2.29 to 3.74 as he gave up nine runs. Kia moved Yang’s start up considering he only threw 47 pitches against Lotte. He’s coming in on four days’ rest, so he shouldn’t have much trouble.
He’ll be looking to redeem himself against the SSG bats. He has fond memories of facing SSG in Gwangju on May 9, when he threw eight innings of six-hit ball with 10 strikeouts and no walks 먹튀검증.
The SSG bats have been lacking focus lately. In four games, they’ve scored just three, two, four, and two runs. However, they are the top team in home runs, so they have some pressure.
SSG has announced left-hander Seung-gun Baek as the starter. It will be his second straight game as a temporary starter in place of Kim Kwang-hyun, who was dropped from the roster due to the WBC drinking scandal. The previous day, he pitched four scoreless innings for Samsung Electronics.
