Shin Bum-soo’s two-run homer to ‘hidden credit’ bullpen’s 5⅔-inning reversal…”I did my part and blocked it well”

The KIA Tigers used a two-run home run by Shin Beom-soo and a strong outing from their bullpen to defeat the Kiwoom Heroes.

KIA earned an 8-4 victory over Kiwoom in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League on Friday at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. 먹튀검증

Despite a rough outing from starter Adonis Medina, who gave up three runs on six hits (one home run) in 3 1/3 innings, KIA’s bullpen held the Heroes to one run in 5 ⅔ innings.

After the game, KIA manager Kim Jong-kook said, “The bullpen pitchers who came in after Medina all did their job and kept the opposing offense at bay, especially Jang Hyun-sik in the bottom of the fourth inning when we were down by two runs, and Park Joon-pyo in the bottom of the sixth inning with runners on first and second with one out. Hwang Dong-ha continues to pitch well,” he said.

In the batting lineup, Shin Beom-soo’s two-run shot and Lee Chang-jin’s multi-hit, two-RBI performance were crucial. “Lee Chang-jin’s two-run double in the first inning gave us the lead, and Shin Bum-soo’s two-run home run in the top of the fourth helped us maintain a good offensive flow. RBI singles by Park Chan-ho and Ryu Ji-hyeok also helped us win the game as we needed extra runs.”

With the win, KIA improved to 26-30 on the season and snapped a three-game losing streak. Coach Kim said, “I hope today’s game will revitalize the team’s atmosphere. I would like to thank the players for doing their best to win and the fans for their unwavering support,” said Kim.
